SHOWCASE OF HOMES

The Home Builders Association sponsors Showcase of Homes.  Local home builders are opening up newly constructed homes for the public to view.  8 houses, of various sizes and architectural styles will be featured.  The showcase cost of $10 includes admission to all homes on the tour.  They are on sale at area businesses including Lamperts, Macco's Floor Covering Center, banks and at the homes on tour.  DETAILS!

SHIPYARD TOURS

MINK RIVER HIKE

The River Alliance and The Nature Conservancy join forces to explore and discover the Mink River in Ellison Bay.  Fuel up with coffee and pastries at Grandma's Swedish Bakery, then travel to the trailhead.  Throughout the walk, there will be discussion of a myriad of issues related to the area:  the ecological impact of the county's history, river hydrology, groundwater, migratory birds, invasive species, lake level, etc.  It is a 1.5 mile round trip that will take about 3 hours.  DETAILS

Today’s buyer prefers quality over square footage.  In a recent study by the National Association of Home Builders, today’s home buyers are much more price sensitive then in the past and prefer quality over square footage.  62% of those responding to the study indicated they would give up square footage for high end amenities such as wireless home security or WiFi controlled utilities.  Even though style rates high on the buyer’s list (French doors, hot tub & separate shower), energy efficiency is important.  Energy Star rated appliances and energy efficient laundry rooms are appealing.  As far as location goes, 36% said they prefer outer suburbs, 30% said they want inner suburbs, 8% prefer the city life, and 27% want to be “out in the sticks”.  Outdoor amenities are important…buyers want parks, jogging/biking trails, and pools nearby.
