Celebrate with us for our 26th Annual Fish Creek Winter Festival.  Play and eat all day Saturday under the heated tent, with music, raffles and a long list of fun and funky games.  Chili cook-off (Door County Realty, Inc.'s own Chuck LeBrun was #1 Chili Chef last year!).  Rock the night away at the Rock 'n Roll Snow Dance.  Then, there's the Third Annual Fruit Loop on Sunday!  The Fruit Loop is a half mile costumed winter fun run that concludes with an actual Fruit Loop breakfast of champions....only in Fish Creek!  DETAILS!
 

 

Home Buyer Statistics for 2012

I just read some interesting real estate statistics in the Jan. 2013 edition of the Wisconsin Real Estate Magazine and wanted to share them with you. 

 

According to the National Association of REALTORS, in 2011…

 

  • The typical home buyer was 42 years old.
  • That buyer had a median household income of $78,600 ($61,800 for first-time buyers and $93,100 for repeat buyers).
  • 65% of the buyers were married.
  • 16% of the buyers were single females (lowest share since 2001).
  • 39% of the buyers were buying for the first time and moving into a house that averaged 1,900 sq. ft. with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths.
  • 90 % of all buyers nationwide and 96% of buyers under the age of 44 used the Internet in their home search process, with 41% saying it was their first step.
  • The typical home buyer looked at 10 homes over 12 weeks.
     

 

Lake Michigan Water Levels Drop More

According to the Door County Advocate, Lake Michigan's water level is down nearly 5 feet from its' highest level in 1987!  The lake's level is expected to be 10" to 17" below last year's level over the next 6 months. 

The other Great Lakes levels are down, but not as much as Lake Michigan's.

WINTER BIRDING IN DOOR COUNTY

QUIET SIDE BIRD EXPLORATION


Location:  Whitefish Dunes State Park in Jacksonport


Date:  01/19/2013

9 AM to 12 NOON


Join amateur birders Bill and Sarah Krouse for a morning of winter lakeshore birding.  begin at Whitefish Dunes to learn the basics of winter bird watching (with refreshments) then carpool to various hot birding spots (Cave Point, Jacksonport, Baileys Harbor).  The group will travel northward before returning to the park.  Group may travel to more sites than listed.  Dress warmly, bring water and a snack.  Trip may include a stop for lunch if birding is very successful.  Call 920.823.2400 for details!
