CHEF'S FOR A DAY EVENT

OCTOBER 20 - 6 PM

The 16th annual CHEF'S FOR A DAY EVENT is held to benefit United Way of Door County.  This is an event to tantalize those taste buds as community "chefs" prepare either an appetizer, entree, or dessert for attendees to try.  This year's even will focus on the Buy Local, Grow Local theme in which chefs are requested to prepare their dishes using 50% of the ingredients from Door County.  A silent auction is featured each year and new this year will be some cooking demonstrations.  Tickets are $45/person...DETAILS!

This 50-mile run is from Gills Rock to Sturgeon Bay!  Described as "the most scenic distance fun in the Midwest"!  Run solo...or team up with 2 to 5 runners.  This run showcases the Western shoreline of Door county during peak fall color!  It ends with a party at sunset.  DETAILS!

Door County’s Real Estate Market AND Wisconsin’s Real Estate Market on the RISE!  According to the Wisconsin REALTOR Association, Wisconsin’s housing market remained strong in August.  Home sales increased at a rate of 20.3% over the same month last year.  Median home prices rose 2.9% in August, which continued a real estate trend of a six month home price appreciation!

In Door County, we saw a 5.0% increase in real estate prices in August 2012 compared to August 2011 and the volume of sales increased from 51 sales in 2011 to 58 sales in 2012.

NEW HOMES ARE GETTING BIGGER!  According to new statistics released by the U.S. Census Bureau, larger homes are the new real estate trend.  This reverses the smaller home trend that began a few years ago.  Even though the average new home size increased, the average sale price of new homes decreased.  Newly built, single family homes in 2011 averages 2, 480 square feet, up from 2,392 square feet in 2010.
